- March 1, 2008: NATIONAL PROVIDER ID's (NPI's) ARE REALLY HERE!
If you are submitting insurance claims through the PDC Clearninghouse,
please watch your reports carefully for rejections related to NPI's.
NPI's went into effect last May, but many insurance payers delayed their
implementation until now. Throughout the month of March
we will be turning on NPI's for all payers, unless a payer has
requested that we not do so. This means that some payers will be seeing
your NPI's come in on claims for the first time, and they may reject
your claims if they can't recognize your number.
AGAIN! Please watch your reports carefully for rejections. If you get
rejections and don't know why, please Call the PDC Clearinghouse so
we can help you resolve the problem.
- March 1, 2008: A USEFUL TIP:
After downloading reports from the PDC Clearinghouse to your Web Browser,
use this trick to find specific patients or other other information:
Hold down the Ctrl key and press the F key, and a search box
will appear. Begin typing into the box, and your browser will begin
searching for what you type. You can use this same tip on any Web Page.
- March 1, 2008: MEDICARE SECONDARY PAYER (MSP) CLAIMS :
The PDC Clearinghouse can now handle MSP claims. MSP occurs when Medicare
is Secondary to another Payer. For example, Cigna might be the Primary Payer for a patient
who also has Medicare. In that case, you must bill Cigna first and get the EOB from
Cigna. Then, you can bill Medicare for certain amounts not paid by Cigna. We prefer that
you bill this on paper, if possible, because it is complicated to
bill via the clearinghouse. However, in some cases Medicare will reject paper claims and
insist that you bill them electronically. The good news is that we can now help.
Currently, this only applies to NHIC claims for ME, NH, VT, and CT. Call PDC if you
need to bill MSP electronically.
